Solution To Troubeshoot Window Installation Fails in the Safe OS Phase:

  1. Update your Drivers:

Sometimes, issues arise because of the problem with your drivers. As outdated drivers’ results in this problem, hence to fix this you should update them.For updating, you can use the tool Driver Fix for detecting and updating all the drivers. This tool scans your PC and finds all problematic drivers.

2. Change your Windows 10 Installation:

To change your Window 10 installation, you have to delete the file. For this, you should download Windows 10 ISO and then copy the contents to a USB stick. After this, you need to run Command Prompt as administrator. Now, you should create a new folder on your computer and then call it mount. Next, you should mount and edit WIM just by inputing into Command Prompt:

dism /Mount-Image /ImageFile:X:sourcesboot.wim /index:1 /MountDir:C:UsersUserDesktopmount

At this point, you should use Windows Explorer and then go to:

C:/Users/User/Desktop/mount/Windows/System32/mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll

Here, you need to right-tap on mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll and then select Properties. Just visit to the Security tab and then hit on Advanced. The user should change the Owner to your User account. Then, in the Security tab you should tap on Edit and then you should Add to add your user account. At this point, you should delete mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll. After this, you should close all open Windows Explorer windows. Next, you should return back to Command Prompt and then just unmount the image by input the command:

dism /Unmount-Image /MountDir:C:UsersUserDesktopmount /commit

Here, repeat the steps for the below files:

boot.wim /index:2

install.wim /index:1

install.wim /index:2

You can also replace boot.wim /index:1 with the values from the list. At last, you should delete the mount folder from your computer and then remove the USB and just boot the installer.

3. Set Services to Automatic:

To fix this issue, you should tap on Windows Key + R at the same time and then type services.msc and hit on Enter or OK button. After this, you should find the below services:

BITS(Background Intelligent Transfer Service)

Windows Update Service

Cryptographic Service

Here, you should double-tap each of the services in order to open the Properties. Then, you should find the Startup type and just set it to Automatic. At this point, you should hit on Apply and OK just to save changes. You should repeat the procedure for all three services. At last, you should Restart your computer system and again install Windows 10.

4. Unplug all USB devices & Remove your Wi-Fi Adapter:

The user should unplug all USB devices to fix the issue such as your printer, phone, external hard drive, etc. It is recommended you should use PS/2 keyboard and mouse rather than using a USB keyboard and mouse. You should use a dedicated Wi-Fi card and remove it from your computer when you install Windows 10.
